Internet Safety & Computer Access Rules
- Protect your identity at all times. Never give out your full name, address, phone number, school or any other personal information to any persons or website.
- Visiting of ANY unauthorized websites is prohibited. While conducting research - I have provided links to safe and reliable search engines and databases that are to be used.
- Do not log into any personal accounts while using school computers (email, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
- Do not visit video streaming websites while working on school computers (YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc.)
- Do not enter chat rooms or sign-in to instant messaging programs while using school computers.
- No food or drink in the computer lab or while working on a school computer.
- Do not print documents unless given explicit permission by the teacher.
- Do not download files unless given explicit permission by the teacher.
Additional Resources for Internet Safety at Home
- Net Safe Utah: This website is dedicated to educating students, parents, and teachers on a variety of safety topics. Articles are categorized by grade level so you can learn how to stay safe online regardless of age. The site also includes dozens of helpful videos. The resources found on this website are not only useful for protecting yourself while conducting school work online but also how to practice safe internet use in all aspects - including social media and online interaction.
- Google Family Safety Center: Here parents can set up filters that control what type of content students will have access to while online at home. Tools like SafeSearch and YouTube safety mode allow you to block out explicit content if you're using Google based programs such as Chrome or YouTube.
- Cal Evaluating Web Pages: This tutorial was created by UC Berkeley to help students differentiate between legitimate and fraudulent websites. The tutorial also includes questions to ask yourself when determining the validity of a site presented in the form of a checklist.
- STOP Cyber Bullying: This anti-bullying cause is very important to me. Many of us have been witnesses to bullying and some of us have even been a victim to it ourselves.
